Costs

As of 1 January 2011, new rates will apply as follows:

Rates  Some people use car clubs to get rid of a car. We've 'recycled' some of our members' cars and they're available at the 'economic' rates. Standard rates apply to the cars that came new to the fleet.

Fuel  Rates include fuel: each car has a fuel card accepted at most filling stations. If you have to pay, keep the receipt and Commonwheels will refund you.

Students   Unlike lots of hire companies who will only insure people over 25 years, Commonwheels is open to anyone over 18 who has held a licence for 12 months (and kept it sufficiently clean!) Students with a valid NUS card are exempt from the monthly minimum spend.

Early return  If you return the car early you'll be charged for the whole booking unless someone else takes the car out, when you'll be refunded for the period the car was used.  Let Commonwheels know as soon as you realise you'll be returning it early so that they can make it available to others.

Late return  Standard rates apply for over-running on a booking but if you return the car late you may also be charged a penalty fee of £25. Let Commonwheels know as soon as you think you're going to be late and remember you can use the in-car computer to extend your booking.

Dirty car  If you leave the car very dirty Commonwheels may charge you a penalty fee.
